五一国际劳动节，是全国劳动人民的节日。100多年前，世界上的劳动人民饱受资产阶级的剥削和压迫，工人每天工作的时间长达14到16个小时，尽管是这样，他们还是经常不得温饱。1886年5月1日，在美国芝加哥，20万工人举行大罢工，要求实行8小时工作制。这一斗争得到世界各国人民的支持。后来，国际工人组织为了纪念这个有意义的日子，就把这天定为国际劳动节。我们中华民族一直以勤劳智慧闻名于世。雄伟的万里长城，使每一位游览观光者为它那浩大规模的工程而赞叹；赵州桥是隋朝大业年间李春设计建造的，既坚固又美观，是世界上最早的石拱桥。这些凝聚着我们民族勤劳智慧结晶的工程。在我们这个勤劳民族之中，不仅古代人为我们树立了榜样，现代人也为我们树立了楷模。横刀立马的大将军彭总也有他的劳动苦乐观。他住在吴家花园的时候，看到驻地周围有许多空地，就组织警卫人员把地翻过来，种上蔬菜瓜果。他总爱亲自动手去劳动，不顾他在西北战场上冻伤的腿，下到池塘挖塘泥，一干就是几小时，战士们劝都劝不上来，真不愧为我军优秀的军事指挥官。
